Self Awareness Groups

I misunderstood the letter that was read during church and wanted to post this to let others know of my mistake. Sorry about it!
Apparently this letter was first read back in 2001 and is still a problem today. I support the First Presidency, hence why I'm posting this for others to be aware and not get involved with these so called "self awareness" groups.

The First Presidency directed that the following letter be read in sacrament meeting:
It has come to our attention that some commercial enterprises promising heightened self-esteem, improved family relationships, increased spirituality and the like by participating in their programs are implying Church endorsement. Such claims are untrue and unfounded.
The Church has not endorsed any such enterprise. Neither should the Church's failure to formally challenge any such enterprise coming to its attention be construed as a tacit endorsement or stamp of approval.
We repeat the counsel set forth in the Church Handbook of Instruction, page 157:
"Church members should not participate in groups that:
1. Challenge religious and moral values or advocate unwarranted confrontation with spouse or family members as a means of reaching one's potential.
2. Imitate sacred rites or ceremonies.
3. Foster physical contact among participants.
4. Meet late into the evening or in the early-morning hours.
5. Encourage open confession or disclosure of personal information normally discussed only in confidential settings.
6. Cause a husband and wife to be paired with other parties."
We strongly counsel against affiliation with any such group and warn against believing any claim of Church approval, tacit or otherwise, by any private organization offering "experiential" or "empowerment" training.

Link the Sink

I started watching Prison Break for one reason, his name's Michael Scofield. My fascination with the show began with the star, Wentworth Miller, but gradually turned into my fascination with the love of this man for his brother. The lengths he went through to protect his brother was heart wrenching. His brother Lincoln Burrows wasn't bad either ;) the reason I bring this up is because my husband Aaron was told the other day, and apparently all the time, (toot toot), that he looked like Lincoln Burrows from Prison Break. Not knowing what Prison Break was, or who Link was, my husband brushed it off. After watching the show, he's a bit big headed about the whole thing.

Let's talk sports

Michael Jordan. You see his influence everywhere. His number 23 jersey worn on the backs of those old and young alike are a testament to his greatness. He was the best in his day, and I would even say, to this day. Yes, I may be stating some strong words, but Michael Jordan was the greatest player in the NBA. Since Jordan's departure, I've had no desire to keep up with the professional level of basketball. That is until I met my husband Aaron. He is a teetering fan of the Lakers, a closet fan of the Jazz, and a hater of any team I go for. I enjoy competition (and arguing, as my husband will testify to) so I decided to watch the playoffs this year to cheer against his team, his so called Lakers. p.s. we have a Lakers plate on our truck that he won't take down just because everyone here hates them. Notice a trend? Anyway, I enjoyed watching the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Utah Jazz (even though D. Williams was an A hole to my husband), Boston Celtics, and those Lakers (booooo!) I remember when Kobe Bryant started in the pros, and I remember how cocky he was. I remember how I disliked his arrogance and attitude. That carried into how I cheered during the playoffs. I have to say though, I've come to respect them (Kobe and the Lakers), and now my dislike has transferred over to a certain self-proclaimed KING. Lebron James will be the reason I boo the Heat and cheer on the Lakers.

First time blogger

I'm not a myspace person (anymore), I'm not a twitter person either. I'm all about facebook and like things simple. Why did I start a blog? Because I like explaining my life, and those status updates aren't big enough for me to fill them. My hubby and I like to talk about a lot of things going on in the world and our question is this, "WHY DO PEOPLE DO THE THINGS THEY DO?!" Maybe I need to go into behavioral science, but for now, this will do.
